The Holi festival in India is a celebration of the win of good over evil and the destruction of the demon Holika. This festival, which is known as the festival of colors, is celebrated every year in early March. People celebrate the beginning of spring and other events in Hindu religion.

Although it is a Hindu festival, it is also popular among non-Hindus. The night before Holi, people gather together and perform religious ceremonies and then pray for the destruction of their inner evil.

The next morning, people start the main carnival traditions and spray each other with powder. They sometimes use water guns and water balloons for more fun. Groups of people march through the streets with drums and other instruments, singing and rejoicing. Also, People get together with their family and friends and eat delicious food.

History of the Holi festival in India

Holi carnival, which many consider the origin of this festival in the legend of “Kashipu”, the evil king in ancient India. Kashipu’s brother who was killed by Vinshu and who wanted to avenge his brother and take power in heaven and earth. So, he commanded the people to worship him as God. Praalada, the only son of Kashipu, prevented this and continued to worship Vinshu.

Kapishu, who dont accept the boy’s opposition, plotted the boy’s death with the help of his sister Holika. Holika had wear that protected her from the fire, she started a fire to burn her brother but contrary to expectation the wear protected Pralada and Holika burned in the fire. This story is a success of good over evil.
